A bowl of oats with berries and milk

Freeze-dried strawberries do two jobs in overnight oats. Crushed into the jar, they soak up the milk and turn the oats pink and fruity. Kept whole for the morning, they give you the crunch that overnight oats usually lack.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant)
  • 1/4 cup thick curd
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 pouch frudo strawberry slices, crushed
  • 1 more pouch, kept whole, for the morning
  • Optional: 1 tsp honey

Method

  1. Stir oats, milk, curd, chia and the crushed strawberries together in a jar.
  2. Seal and chill for at least 6 hours.
  3. In the morning, loosen with a splash of milk if it has set too firm.
  4. Top with the whole strawberry slices right before eating.

Tip: keep the whole slices in their pouch until you eat. Added the night before, they go soft.
